The Shaping Interfaces RPA seeks to develop, test, strengthen, and sustain interfaces that facilitate interaction between science and society. We understand interfaces as points of connection that that enable societal and societal actors to learn from, dialogue with, or contribute to each other.

Such interfaces can take many forms, including (but not limited to) apps, exhibitions, citizen science projects, co-creation events, games, chatbots, hubs, networks, and other spaces, tools, activities, or platforms that support fruitful, multi-way communication, collaboration, and/or critique across science-society divides.

With this broad conceptualization in mind, the RPA supports research projects and practical initiatives that address interfaces across four core thematic areas. We do so by bringing together societal partners, public stakeholders, and scholars from diverse disciplines.
